When you arrive at Awaken Aesthetics for your first IPL treatment, our highly trained medical staff will be happy to answer any last minute questions you may have. Then, the areas you wish to have treated will be cleansed in preparation for the procedure. A cooling gel will be applied to the areas we will be treating and the procedure will take approximately 15-60 minutes depending on the size of the area treated.

After treatment, you may experience some pink skin and warmth to the skin, but don’t worry – it will likely fade by the end of the day. Many patients even return to work after leaving our office. After your treatment, you might notice your brown spots darkening and a slight red flush or puffiness, which often concerns patients that are expecting them to disappear. These are normal and usually resolve within a day. Makeup can be used to cover any redness as your skin calms down. Within the next few days they will flake off. This process can take anywhere from 1-3 weeks.
